Your Affiliate Marketing Plan – The 4 Biggest Flaws and How To Get It Right
Affiliate Marketing is not so easy as it looks at the first view. It is a real business, and the learning potential is huge, but only the people who really learn their stuff and treat it as a business are looking considerably money. Most people, which are about 95%, earn only some bucks, often even if they have a high traffic website.
These are the 4 most important things you have to avoid, if you do not want to end in the unsuccessful 95%:
Flaw # 1 – Not preselling
Only placing links, ads or banners is extremely ineffective. People are "banner-blind", they search for information. Sending people directly to a salesletter CAN work, but only a few people will buy this way.
They will much more likely buy, when they are "presold". To presell is, putting them in an "open to buy" state of mind. You can do that with information rich content. That can be a informational website, a review, an article, a blog or a series of emails.
You can send them to a squeeze page where they can enter their name and email address in order to get a gift from you, or an ecourse.
Flaw # 2 – Not choosing the right product
Select products that sell very good. You can find out in affiliate networks like clickbank, which are the best selling products. The ones with high gravity are the best selling, but they also have tough competition.
So you can search for ones with medium gravity, especially newer ones, or go for underpromoted products that have a salespage that make a really good impression to you. Try to put yourself into the eyes of a customer. If you feel that the salesletter could entice you to buy, then it's probably good.
You should also select only quality products, because you do not want your customers to be disappointed. A content customer can be with you a lifetime. And you do not want to pay back your commission.
So it's the best when you personally know the product, and can endorse it wholeheartedly. Also mind that higher price items are harder to sell.
Flaw # 3 – Being anonymous
In the internet you need personality. People want to buy from someone who they trust. They want to see that you're a real person with a name, a picture and a story. You need to build a relationship to them.
Many marketers act anonymously or under a pen name, especially if they market in different niches, because they want to stay "under the radar", with good success.
But they know what they do, and it does not mean that it's the best way which brings the most revenue. Look at all the big Internet Marketing Gurus. Are they anonymous? No.
Flaw # 4 – Not taking care that the buyer really buys through your link
Many missions are lost this way! Do not underestimate this problem, it can be very much loss for you. Cookies are often blocked or even hijacked, and there are other problems with browsers.
You can cloak the affiliate link in a special way so that you make sure that your affiliate code is transferred to the vendor. But be cautious, not all cloaking works.
Offer them a bonus or a rebate (be careful, some vendors do not allow this), and tell them to take heed that your affiliate name is shown on the buying page.
