Traffic and List Building – How to Drive Traffic and Build a List
The dream of all marketers is to have a list, with thousands of responsive subscribers, that buys all the products we recommend, be they our own products or affiliate products. Every time you need money, you send an e-mail and, BAM, thousands of dollars flow into you bank account in minutes.
It’s like turning your computer in a perfect Automatic Cash Machine, that instead of taking money from your bank account will deposit money on that same bank account. But, as every one in the business discover, sooner or later, building a list can be a very difficult task. And worse is building a list with responsive subscribers, people that trust you and buy what you recommend.
And why is so difficult to build a list? Basically, if you don’t have experience, because you must, first, drive traffic to your offers and, second, convince people to subscribe to your list. And if driving traffic is something very technical that you can master with more or less work, convince people to subscribe your list will depend on how you can capture people attention and make them interested in you and your products.
One of the easiest way is to offer something – a bribe – to your visitors that they can have for free in exchange for their name and e-mail address. This is very well known in the industry. But why is not working as good as in the past?
Because from some time ago every body is giving everything to every one and we all, which means our prospects as well, become part of hundreds of lists and a in a lot of them we receive several time the same product for free. And also because the majority of the free offers have little or any value at all.
So this is how you’re going to distinguish yourself from others.
If you provide value, chances are that people want to hear from you and they may subscribe your mail list or newsletter so they can receive information from you, since that information is important to them. Value is the key to attract people attention. Now that you’ve setup your offer you need to drive traffic to your offer. I found that the traffic strategies, if you’re looking for non-paid traffic, can be splited in 5 major categories:
- Giveaways and Ad Swaps
- Blog and Forum Comments
- Article Writing and Press Releases
- Social Bookmarking
- Video Marketing
Another way to drive traffic to your offer is by means of SEO (Search Engine Optimization) which it’s also a traffic strategy but for different objectives, mainly to rank your website or blog in the Search Engines and get organic traffic from people that are searching in the internet for something very specific that you are offering. In following articles I’ll explain the basics of each of the above strategies, their pro and cons and how easy they are to implement.
