The Difference Between Internet Marketing and Network Marketing
I am sure that by now you are well aware of the word marketing but what you may not be aware of is the difference between Internet marketing and Network marketing. Do not fall into the trap of thinking that they are both the same because you will then have difficulty in using the right methods for your business.
Internet marketing: is the term used generally for selling products and services online. You usually rely on your promotions or those of your affiliates and JV partners to get sales. Lists are created and built with your online promotions and are generally email business lists. You do build up relationships to sell products but you do not build teams of sales people when you sell products.
Network marketing: is a social form of marketing, in that you build teams of sales people to market the products with you. This is usually in the form of a business opportunity. These team members build teams of sales people themselves and this is the way a whole network of sales people selling the business opportunity and product is created. Every time a member of the team makes a sale you will get a commission.
Some key differences between network marketing and online marketing:
• Building relationships to sell product: The main difference between network marketing is the fact that you work with your team members to sell the business opportunity and product to others. With online marketing you do not have to be as social and will rely on ad copy and more impersonal promotions. You will build relationships with potential customers via email. You can do this with mailers (sequences of emails) or a weekly newsletter.
• Network marketing can be done offline: for example post cards sent out to targeted lists of people. Online marketing is done by promotions and email contact.
• Lists are usually bought from list brokers and are not usually created by you. In online marketing you are the one that creates and builds business lists to email too.
• Cold calling: is another offline way of marketing that is common among network marketers. These lists are often used for cold calling which is the way the business opportunity is presented to new leads. The lists will be made up of opportunity seekers. With online marketing you do not have to do this and will never have to cold call leads.
