Thinking like a marketer is a big mistake. Super affiliates never make this mistake. You have to think like your costumer and know where they hang out.
Imagine, a hunter has to think like a prey. Good hunters know where the prey is, in the same way super affiliates know where buyers are. Thinking like a costumer will bring results you want. I call this sideways thinking and it is a very important skill in your affiliate marketing business.
When you find out where your costumers hang out, you will have a huge advantage over your competition. Seeing through your costumer`s eyes is key. You know how you feel, when you are in a buying mode. That is the right approach in your marketing.
Costumer always comes first. Think about a costumers mindset when they want to buy a certain product. What is their desire, why they need that product, how will that product help them or how it will solve their problems.
If you are going to be a typical advertiser like everybody else, you can say goodbye to your affiliate success.
Costumers are very smart and they don`t want to see that “buy now” button all the time. They want useful information that can solve their problem. You have to be the one that will give them that in a helpful friendly manner. Forced advertising won`t bring you results online.
Put yourself in a costumer`s shoes. How would you search online, if you wanted good information? What kind of keywords would you use in search engines? Would you participate in forums? What kind of person do you consider trustworthy? All these questions are important, if you want to sell stuff online. Second important thing are demographics. People of different ages have different desires and problems. It all depends on the market you are in.
Don`t forget to be unique and throw in the unexpected. Be different then others and show people you are a person who offers the best stuff. Study your competitors, find out which ones are successful and then shift your thinking. Do something different to grab costumer`s attention. You need to see your advertising the way costumer sees it, not the way marketers will see it. That means, never do what all other marketers are doing.
Make people curious. Hide your advertising as helpful information. This is also a great way to build a list. Consider things, what would make them buy the product.
Become a student of human nature. You have got to appreciate some basic human attributes that all costumers share:
- People hate being “sold to”but they like and appreciate useful information.
- People are willing to pay for information that they deem valuable.
- People want to be in control. They hate being manipulated.
- People are above all curious.
Always remember, stop thinking like a marketer or a salesman of the product. People are searching for information online, not ads.
Sideways thinking works. Super affiliates know it and they use it to their advantage. So start studying your costumers, find out what worries them and makes them happy. That`s what super affiliates do.
