Should You Design Your Own Blog?
With the number of user-friendly blogging interface that have proliferated on the World Wide Web these days, creating a blog is nothing harder for people. In fact, it simply starts by signing up an account with any free blogging websites, followed by choosing your desired template, posting entries, uploading images, and voila, you have a blog up and running. But is that all there is when you design your own blog?
It has often been emphasized that one does not need to be a programmer or web designer in order to create a blog. But creating and designing are two different, yet critical tasks when running a blog that earns. And unless you are clear with what you want to achieve, you might consider a few important details when you design the blog.
Know Your Blog’s Purpose. Having purpose on why you are putting up a blog in the first place makes it easier for you to design your own blog. Will you be selling something on your blog? Or do you plan to make it more informational and earn through your niche affiliate banners? Establish your blog’s mission and use ample header image and theme layout.
Create Your Blog’s Identity. Truthfully, your blog needs some kind of identity, too. This is what makes it different from the rest of the blogs that people will see on the Internet. Do not talk about pro blogging tips if your blog is for blogging beginners; otherwise you will fail getting your blog’s identity and branding across your niche audience.
Choose Your Header Carefully. The header area is the first thing that your visitors will notice as soon as they are directed to your blog. That being said you need to pay extra attention in making sure that the header image and text are inviting enough to make people scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page and see what other things you can offer them.
Don’t Display Too Many Ads. When you do your own blog design, strike the right balance by not putting too much ads on every sides and footer of your pages. Doing so will steer people away because you don’t have enough valuable content to keep them engaged. This way you do not only lose traffic but also potential customer base.
A blog with a purpose does not happen overnight; hence you have to be very meticulous when you design your own blog. Expect to work long hours in selecting the right template alone, and be prepared to spend more when it’s time to put together the rest of the elements such as header images, content, side bar widgets, etc.
