Network Marketing Lead Generation – Start at the Top
Generating MLM or network marketing leads is a knot that successful network marketers get the hang of early on. There's no complicated formula behind it, you just have to learn the right people to approach and the way to get inside their heads. You are not a robot, you are a unique personality, and you must be able to decide who will be best to talk about about your opportunity and who to avoid.
Without targeted and qualified network marketing leads – and a good daily supply of them – you are going to end up with the other 97% of folks who fail in network marketing. Even if you are crazy about the company you have joined and their products, without leads you will be DOA.
Anyone can get just any old leads, get 100 lousy leads and you'll get 100 big fat no's. Get 100 pre-qualified leads and the amount of success you achieve will be down to your skills in being able to convert those leads into yeses.
Even great network marketing companies may tell you to approach your friends and family. Of course you can get buyers from that source, but most of the time all you'll do is make them avoid you. Personally I believe you should leave them until last. If your network marketing venture fails, you will not have to listen to them saying "I told you so", but if you become a success and turn up at the next family reunion driving a new car and looking affluent, guess what – they Will be asking you how you did it! (If your family's like mine you may still say no!)
Some of the best people to approach with your great network marketing opportunity are other network marketers. You are in effect "preaching to the choir" – they already know about the business model, they like it, and understand how it works. They already have a downline that they can promote it to, and a list they will be excited to offer the product to.
Recruit others who have the same enthusiasm and entrepreneurial spirit as you. Many network marketers who are failing are looking around for "better" opportunities. A few are still enthusiastic about the business model, but may not be so happy with their compensation plan, the training provided or the actual product – they should make good enrollments. The rest are probably failing because they're not putting enough effort into their business, and they would fail in any situation. Pass them by – you do not need cling ons.
Never start at the bottom because that's where the sediment is – those people who are just treading water and pretending. Start at the top with the cream. They are the high achievers and have the passion and vision to want to succeed. They can only help you reach your goals, where the rest of them will slow you down.
By being able to say no to people, you have already set yourself up as a leader. It may make you uncomfortable at first, but when you realize that the ones you say "definitely" are going to help you achieve your financial goals it soon gets easy to say no.
Do you really want to listen to your lazy kid brother complaining that he's not making any money with your opportunity as he surfs the TV channels from the couch, or would you rather have a real business meeting with someone with a head full of ideas and a List of hot prospects to approach?
