Key Internet Marketing Tips For Home Based Business
Social media, or web 2.0 as it is sometimes referred to is a way of capturing new customers using the internet. I am going to talk you through some of the tools and they are all free.
This article is article marketing, did you know that Ezine gets approximately 8.4 million visitors a month. I can put a link on the bottom of this article to my blog or web page. You use the article to get across your expertise and provide information and if people want to learn more they go to your site.
If you go to Google and search on your keyword followed by ‘forum’ then you will get a list of all relating forums to your field. You can go in and comment or add useful content and again by getting yourself across as an expert in your field.
It is not as daunting as it sounds to create a video and is highly effective. For example, if you do a search on Google on any topic and you see a list of possible sites to look at, the one with the video is more likely to get clicked on than the one on the top of the Google page that does not, its the personal touch. The good news also is that the less professional (as long as the sound quality is o.k.) videos are actually more trusted as they look less marketed. You can download a free trial of camtasia (video capturing software) and if you have a built in web camera your ready to go, else you can buy a cheap web camera.
A word press blog is free but as I learnt quickly you cannot advertise on it. So you can blog and generate traffic but if you want to sell or promote products then you need to pay for a web host. Do not get put off by terminology, here is how it was explained to me, your house is your website, the host is the road it sits on and the website or blog address is the signpost to your house. So start with word press and you can always redirect.
This is a tool where you share what you are doing, you can attach links, photos, you tube videos. You can open a new account in face book easily, search for groups relating to your field and make friends with people in that group, then when they log in they will see what all there friends are doing. You can also organize events on face book.
This is just like face book and very easy to use, you just post what you are doing in less that 140 letters. Many people use this to drive traffic or to sell products by including a link to their website or affiliate page.
This is just the start but I would encourage you to experiment and have some fun with these tools, you could play with them socially to start with then open new accounts to drive business traffic when you feel ready. There are great tools for linking all this together and understanding what direction to drive the traffic and capturing customers emails but I will write more about those in another article.
