Is Blogging a Business?
Many people think of blogging as something that is done just for fun, or at best as a marketing tool for businesses and really only a small tool at that. However, for some people, blogging can become a business, and a bit of a lucrative one at that if properly done. There are four ways that a blog can become a moneymaker.
1. AdSense and Affiliating.
Every blog program has with it the ability to let you advertise for other companies on your blog. These advertisements pay you out money every time a visitor either clicks on an ad or a commission if a visitor buys something. The best way to do this of course is to advertise products that are in someway related to your blog. All you have to do is look for companies that are searching for affiliates for themselves and you’re in. Although this isn’t a big money maker, it is an easy way to make some passive income for yourself.
2. Company Reviews
Companies all over the world are starting to realize that serious, well written bloggers have their opinions taken very seriously their readers and if a blogger endorses or says a product stinks, then customers tend to listen. This is why many companies are looking at hiring on bloggers to endorse their company and thus drive more traffic to them. This pays better, especially for larger companies looking for some positive reviews of their goods. Plus, you might even wrangle some free samples out of them.
3. Ghost Writing
Some companies just want someone to blog for them, especially smaller internet based businesses that want a blog but don’t have the time or skill to handle them. It’s a nice way to make a bit of money with only a small fraction of your day spent on it, if you don’t mind the fact that you don’t have the rights to your work.
4. Pulling it all together
If you have enough of your thoughts on paper and can pull them into something cohesive, then you have the basis for a nice e-book to sell. Whether it be on products, technology, healing, or your own life experiences, you’ll find people happy to buy a conglomeration of your thoughts and experiences and this can net you a tidy sum of money.
If you enjoy blogging, it’s well worth looking into doing it as a source of extra income. You won’t get rich off it, but with some work and a bit of luck, you can make a tidy income to subsidize your regular income.
