Internet Marketing Tips – Parodies Make Money
Let me just say that before I get into this article, this form of marketing is not my personal cup of tea. I don’t really get into it. Having said that, it does work very well. If done correctly, it can make a big name for yourself and bring in a lot of sales. This article is going to show you an example of this and explain how to go about doing it yourself.
The example I am going to use is one I am sure that you are all familiar with. Recently, Britney Spears did a concert that was a total disaster. As a result, she was absolutely torn apart by the media. Because of this, Chris Crocker did a video ranting, crying, carrying on about how the media should leave Britney alone. It was absolutely pathetic. Well, a well known marketer, known as Dr. Mike, came up with a parody of the video called “Leave John Reese Alone” where he screams about people bashing John Reese for releasing some product. Dr. Mike does an excellent parody of the Chris Crocker video. Why is it excellent? Because he paid attention to detail. He made his video as close to the Chris Crocker video as possible and yet focus on a completely different topic, related to an Internet marketing product.
There is no doubt that this video will go viral and get thousands of people to Dr. Mike’s site. While I personally didn’t think the video was funny, and quite honestly, in poor taste, it is still excellent marketing. Anybody who knows anything about Britney and Chris Crocker is going to get it. And that is all that matters. While I didn’t enjoy the video, there will be many who will.
Okay, so how do we go about doing something like this? Well, the first step is that we have to keep our pulse on what’s going on in the world, mostly the world of entertainment, because that’s where things like this usually go on.
The next thing we have to do is come up with an idea to parody whatever it is that’s in the news. Yes, this does take a bit of thought and creativity. Quite honestly, there is no way to teach this. You either have the talent for coming up with these ideas or you don’t. However, by paying attention to the detail of the video itself, you should have an easier time of it.
Finally, you need the equipment. In the case of videos, Camtasia will do just fine. It’s about $300 but worth every penny. You will get clear, crisp videos that you’ll be able to present to the public with confidence. After you’re finished, it’s just a matter of uploading your video to YouTube.
Parodies are not everybody’s cup of tea. But if you’re into them and have a feel for them, they are great money makers.
