Internet Marketing Tips – Building Curiosity Increases Sales
They say that curiosity kills the cat. Well, I don’t know about cats, but I do know that people are very curious people and if you build on that and take advantage of it, as a marketer, you can make a boat load of sales out of it. But the question is how? How do you get somebody interested in what you have to say? Well, it’s an art…but one that can be learned. Here are some of my tips for building curiosity to increase sales.
Nobody loves anything more than gossip or a controversial topic. It’s kind of like in real life. If you are walking down the street and see a guy helping an old lady across the street, you won’t look twice. But if you walk past a nice three car wreck, you’re going to stop and look. Not only that, but you’ll hang around for a while to see how it turns out. That’s just the way human nature is.
Okay, so how can we apply this to our marketing? Easy. What we need to do is think of an angle for promoting our product. We need to come up with something controversial or shocking. Maybe we might send out an email ad to our list with the following subject…”Well Known Marketer Makes Shocking Confession.” Now obviously, you need to back that up with a story. This isn’t hard to do. Big name marketers are always making confessions about something or another. Just read up on one of them and include it in your email.
What if you’re using article marketing to promote your product? Well, that’s very easy. You can write articles on just about anything at all in any niche at all. And let’s be honest, there is controversy and shocking news in just about any niche you can find. Imagine the articles you could have written with each drug recall if you were in the health niche. Not only would these have built curiosity but they would have been deadly accurate. Sadly, some of the drug recalls were big news.
The point is, when people see these kinds of ads and articles, they can’t help but stop and read them. It’s that car or train wreck of the Internet that gets their attention. The couldn’t resist it if they try. This is where YOU as a marketer have to take advantage of that curiosity and make your pitch felt. If you’re writing about a drug recall and have a natural way to treat the ailment that the drug itself treated, let your prospect know it. Lines like, “Don’t let these dangerous drugs kill you. My natural treatment works…guaranteed” will have prospects flocking to your site.
Building curiosity increases sales…every time.
