How to Market Your Small Business on the Internet – Part III
In part three of this three part series about how to market your small business on the Internet I am going to cover how targeted landing pages can help you drive more quality traffic.
You can drive all the traffic you want but if the searcher is not finding what he or she really wants or needs, then your money and time is wasted. Why, because the searcher will come to your page, not see what they are searching for and then hit the back button or type in another keyword or key phrase to help them find what they are looking for.
The problem originates with the business owner who only sees using one webpage to send all the traffic to. This works well for the general merchandise store and in some cases for small businesses that only offer one or two specific products or services. But for the majority of businesses out there, they market a variety of services and / or products and must reach different audiences. So when the searcher is looking they only arrive at a generic page versus a page that is optimized for what they really want or need.
In this article I will share three steps to creating and using landing pages plus how you can optimize them for maximum results. These three steps include creating the landing page list, design & creating the pages and then implementing and testing each and every page.
Here are the three steps to creating and setting up a landing page system, so you can market more effectively on the Internet:
Step one is to create a landing page list for all of the products and services you wish to promote and test. I suggest you set this list up in a spreadsheet so you can easily enter, retrieve and analyze the data. By having a master list this allows you to see all the information about which pages are performing and which ones are not.
Step two is to design and create specific landing pages for each product and service that you offer. This can be done in a simple HTML editor, a more complex web design program or with a specialized program that is just for the purpose of designing pages that promote and sell. Create the pages with copy that is specifically written to attract the searcher and get them to take action. Then make sure to split test the pages to see which one performs the best. The end result should be that you have a series of targeted landing pages that can be linked to specific directories or local, or social media.
Step three is to implement and test all of your pages. This is vital to the success of this strategy and critical if you intend to succeed on the web. Make sure to use testing software so you split test, measure and track all of your pages and the content within them. By doing so you can further optimize and create pages that perform better and allow you to capture more quality leads and new clients.
