How to Build Your Email Marketing List
If you have been interested in Internet Marketing for even a small amount of time you have probably heard about your list. What exactly does this term mean and why is it important to do this step?
What is a List?
An email marketing list is a a compilation of names and email addresses of people whom you will try to sell your product to. Today’s Internet Marketer doesn’t have it as easy as our predecessors in online marketing. The days of people buying the first item they see online are over. It is not enough to just have a sales page. As web surfers are now more sophisticated, they don’t buy from just anyone. They are much more likely to purchase from someone they recognize, or better yet, trust.
The way to gain their trust, and capture their information, is by offering potential customers an item of value, for free. In exchange for this gift, they provide you with their personal details, their name and email, and this is added to your list. This exchange benefits both you and your list. They receive your valuable (it must be valuable) information that will solve a problem for them. And you now have a growing list of people you can send information to, including sales offers.
What do you do with the email marketing list once you have it?
Once you have a list of people who are interested in your product,(and you know they are interested or they wouldn’t have requested your free information) you keep in touch with them. Send them emails, give them additional tips, advice, or news relevant to your, and their area of interest. You could even send them a periodic newsletter. This builds their recognition of you and their trust. Then when you do send them a sales offer, they will be more likely to purchase. Be sure you do not send them sales offers every time, this will diminish that hard earned trust.
Now you have the basics of building your list. Offer a valuable informational free gift, in exchange for their contact information. Build this relationship by staying in touch and giving additional information. Then introduce your product offer, viola – sales will result! So what should be the first thing on your “to do list”?
