How Much Money Can You Make With Internet Marketing?
It seems at the moment that there are more and more home based business opportunities appearing by the day. We are constantly bombarded with offers into our e-mail in box on a daily basis. ‘Work from home, join me, I made $10,000 in my first month!’ or ‘ see how this guy made $75,000 in 28 days working only 20 minutes per day’. I’m sure you get the picture. To the majority of people, including me, not only can this be misleading but also upsetting. You end up thinking, if that guy is making $150,000 a year working from home, why can’t I do it? I’ve been involved in many home based business opportunities over the years, Amway, Herbal life, Kleeneze etc. Sure I will admit I got drawn in by the claims of making big money. However, I never really made any decent amounts of money, which leads me onto my question, how much can you realistically expect to earn working from home? Difficult one. How long is a piece of string? How much do you want to earn? I truly believe there are fantastic, proven and realistic opportunities out there, all of which have the potential to provide you with a great living and more free time. But it is not going to happen overnight. I think this has been one of my own faults in the past. Expecting too much, too quickly. I’ll sign up to something, pay my membership or subscription fee, put money into advertising and 2 months down the line nothing happens, no results, so I am out of pocket, disheartened and give up. Soon after that I am looking for the next opportunity. Does this sound familiar? Maybe you have been in this position. Then before you know it you have turned into a serial business opportunity seeker, always searching for the next big thing.
Look at it this way. If you are training to be a Doctor, Plumber or Airline Pilot it takes time. People who train to undertake these types of careers will have to put in hundreds of hours of study, years of training and practice. They will need to be instructed by experts in their field. Why should starting your own Internet Marketing business of other home based business be different? You need to learn new skills, study how to market yourself and market your products. You need to learn from successful people, people who have been there and done it. We should be treating our on line marketing efforts as a learning experience, the same as if you were studying at University. I think sometimes we get sidelined by the extreme amounts of money on show. We need to get the basics right first. You can’t run before you can walk. If we get the foundations of our business right, everything else will drop into place. I’m willing to bet that if you speak to any successful internet marketers they will tell you that success did not come straight away. They researched, they learnt and tested themselves. It is my opinion that you should not be expecting to make great strides early in your internet marketing career.
I would probably say it is going to take you 6 months of consistent effort before you see measurable and regular results. Speak to somebody you know who owns a business, it doesn’t have to be an online business, and they will tell you it took them time to build their business before they saw any profit. It’s the same as building a house, you need the right materials, you need to do the groundwork and lay the foundations. This is the same with internet marketing, depending on the methods you use and the time you have available, you might be spending the first few months building up your social networking presence. Or you may be concentrating on writing and submitting articles or developing videos for You Tube. You need to get your name out there first. Do not forget that your mentors are there to assist you, ask for help. I myself have found other individuals involved with internet marketing are helpful and willing to provide advice. But don’t think you can’t do it, you can, and most people who start in internet marketing want to develop a better existence for themselves and their loved ones. Treat this time as a learning experience, a journey. Remain positive; don’t let negative comments from others effect you too much. Remain focussed on your goal. Remember the tortoise and the hare? It’s not a race, take your time, stick to the path that others have been down before you and you will get there. Remember persistence is King.
