Get Targeted Visitors to Your Website – How to Use Forum Marketing For Website Promotion
Want even more website visitors? Read on to discover how to use forum marketing as the perfect website promotion strategy. Notice how I said “targeted” visitors? You don’t just want any old visitors, but visitors who are interested in what YOU have to offer. And one way in which you can achieve that is by forum marketing.
Now what in the world is forum marketing?
Here’s how it works. You become a member of forums in your niche and help people find out about who you are and what you have to offer. There are several ways to do that, depending on your niche and the forum(s) you choose.
1) Use your signature
The first thing you should do is create a custom signature and make sure to append it to any message you post.
What should you put into your signature? That will depend a bit on the policies of the forum you’re participating in. Some of them don’t allow you much of anything, while others allow blatant ads. And there’s a whole range in between.
At the very least, you should be able to post a link to your website. And if you can’t do that in your signature, you should at least post it in your profile. Of course, you may also want to keep looking for more generous forums.
2) Write a lot of posts
Participate in the discussion and post as many posts as possible — but only posts that deliver value. You do not want to spam that forum.
3) Offer your products/services
This one may or may not apply to every forum. Some forums have a place where you can offer your products and/or services directly. Others do not have that, so you would have to be more subtle about it.
But even if there’s no such place, just try to help people out as much as possible by using your expertise, and they’ll catch on. You could even use an example every now and then, such as, “as I did when I created a website for one of my clients…” They get the idea. Just make sure they’ll have a way to contact you. And, of course, always offer your services when someone’s looking, but be subtle about it, as in “Let me know if I can help you.”
4) Banner ads
Finally, some forums even let you purchase banner ads. Again, not every forum will, but if they offer this service, and you should ask even if you can’t see it, consider taking advantage of it.
Now there’s one more point: If you have the choice of different forums, which one should you choose?
Bonus Tip: Focus on active forums
For the best results, look for a forum that is very active; the more active, the better. And should also pick a forum that will allow you a fairly detailed signature line, and ideally even a place where you can advertise your services.
Lastly, don’t restrict yourself to one, but don’t spread yourself too thin either. Pick a few and get active, and then start measuring which ones gives you the best results — and shift your efforts in that direction.
