Email Marketing Tips – Should You Take Your Unsubscribe Rate Seriously?
Let's face it: you will get people who cut loose from your mailing list. It's just unavoidable. Even if you do not mail to your list, there will still be people who unsubscribe! So you've got to look at your unsubscribe rate as a positive thing, on the other hand do not totally ignore it.
If you notice your unsubscribe rate is too high and it's make you slightly uncomfortable, then you might want to consider making some changes to your campaign. Maybe you should have less direct promotions. Or maybe you should email less often. Whatever it is, take action to correct the problem.
But as I say, do not worry about getting people who unsubscribe if the rate is not that big. Even if you provide the greatest value in the world, there will still be unhappy people. Perhaps they had a bad day, they quarreled with their loves one or had a bad day at work, maybe you just sent them an email when they were not happy. These things happen and are pretty much unavoidable. There's nothing you can do about these things.
The only thing you can do is to send out quality content regularly so your list does not think you take them as being an ATM. Nevertheless, you still have to send out offers and you still have to make money from your list. After all, you are not running a charity. So do not be afraid of mailing to your list. If in doubt, do it more often. The ones who like your style and your content will stay on, the ones that do not will simply unsubscribe and move on. The most important thing to take not of is that your subscribe rate is exceeding your unsubscribe rate everyday.
