Email Marketing Plan – What is Your Big Picture Plan to Gain Market Share?
Everyone and their dog knows that building a list is crucial to making money online, but you need an email marketing plan to succeed. Many beginning list builders simply put together a slipshod free gift and start building their list, any way, anyhow. Even the follow-up email messages in their autoresponder have not much thought in them. While this can be a great way to get in the action mode and get started, it shouldn’t be the way you operate forever.
When you start out, you’ve got to have a big picture plan to what you want to accomplish in this business. If your goal is just to make a few thousand dollars a month, then you can probably stop reading here. But if you want to make 5 figures or even more per month from email marketing and gain a significant market share in your niche, then read on.
First of all, what is market share? It is simply the percentage of your market that is being reached by your business. Simply put, the more subscribers you have on your list, the more market share you have. Sure, you can have 1000 responsive subscribers or even buyers, but I would much rather have 10,000 responsive subscribers or buyers, wouldn’t you agree? Numbers count. The biggest marketers I know in the Internet marketing field have lists of hundreds of thousands of subscribers and you can bet they are making a killing every time they send an email out to their lists.
If you are in a monopolistically competitive market with lots of sellers and buyers, the best way you can do to gain market share is to get more leads. The second best way is to brand yourself or your business. In a crowd like this, it makes even more sense to brand yourself and stand out from the pack. If not, you will just become another ‘me-too’ marketer. If you try to become everything to everybody, you become nothing to everybody. Create a moniker that people will remember or slice out a niche for yourself in the market. Do whatever it takes to stand out and be remembered.
So, in your ‘big picture’ email marketing plan, concentrate on getting more leads every day and branding yourself and your business and you will stand out from the crowd and ultimately be more profitable.
