The most effective of all Online Marketing is truly Email Marketing
It is the most personal, the most effective and the best way to reach people on a personal one-on-one level.
Here is a guide that walks you through the most important aspects of an email that you are using as an Email Marketing Message.
The subject is the first thing we see when we open up our email account and we tend to scroll through looking at 2 things; Name and Subject.
Tier 1: These are the emails we open up first
We tend to open up the emails from people we know or people we are looking forward to hearing from.
We then move forward to reading through other emails primarily by looking at subjects to decide if we want to open up the email now or later.
Subject in Email Marketing
The ONLY INTENT: Encourage Opening
The risk of someone deciding to open up your email later is the concept of Bury and Forget …
It happens to all of us – we skip past something today with the intent of opening it later but in the meantime we receive multiple more emails and the cycle just continues … This happens to me all the time, that by the time I have time or desire to clean out my email box that email is so old – I just delete it!
OK – so now that your email has been opened – it's time to make the body really count.
How to Make a GOOD Subject for Email Marketing
Here are a few tips
- Use Power Words and bracket them – ex. [NEW] [EASY] [FREE] [INSPIRING] [YES]
- Use these triggers: Curiosity, Questions, Stats, Specific, Pics, Weird Things & Humor (Hilarious, lol)
- End your subject with a? or a … to peak curiosity to open email
If you are running out of ideas or having a tough time coming up with good subject line – oh just a note … you never really know what is a good subject line until you test it – Try it out – see what your open rate is and if it opens good – then it was a good subject line!
Ideas – have a look at Amazon … Interesting but a great concept. Have a look at book titles and take note on the titles for the best selling books. It's amazing but email marketing subjects and book titles have a lot in common.
The intent of the body:
- Invoke Curiosity
- Provide Value
- Further develop your relationship with your reader
