Designing an Effective Promotional Email Marketing Campaign
Legitimate email marketing is an incredibly cost-effective and high-return way to promote products and services. As you design your email, a few simple guidelines will make sure the email is attractive, easy to read and gets your point across in a memorable way.
Most email marketing services offer a variety of templates which their customers can use to construct their flyers. These are the best option for any user. The templates are tested to make certain they display correctly in many different email programs and the layout is crafted to ensure that important elements do not become garbled due to sloppy coding.
The templates are typically very customizable and anyone with a basic knowledge of HTML and CSS can usually alter the source code to suit their needs, as well. Colors, fonts and element placement can be easily altered to the design specifications of the customer.
When you’re customizing one of these templates, make certain your company logo is in a prominent place and, preferably, appears at the very top of the email. This will ensure that, when the email is opened, the customer will recognize the name of your firm and be aware that the email is a legitimate one; not one worthy of the recycle bin.
Contact information should also be prominent and in an easily-readable font. This applies to the text of the email, as well. Assume that your customers won’t have a lot of time to invest in reading your message and write the copy so that it reads quickly, immediately conveys the most important elements of the message and, of course, be very careful of spelling and grammatical errors. Some email filters will actually determine that a message is spam if it has spelling errors. Using deliberate errors in an attempt to “fool” spam filters is a frequent tactic of those who send out unsolicited commercial email.
An attractive color scheme makes an email seem better designed and determines whether an email flyer is noteworthy or easily disregarded. Make sure your color scheme uses colors that not only work well together but that invite the eye to explore the design. Color usage will depend greatly on the business being advertised. For example, a financial institution always does well to use elegant, darker colors that convey class while an industrial equipment firm would do well to use colors characteristic of the items they sell, yellows, oranges and so forth.
Graphics are a big part of attracting the eye but they shouldn’t be a big part of the email’s overall size in terms of data. Make sure your images are compressed as much as possible while retaining the quality of the image.
A well-designed email flyer is sure to capture the interest of at least a few of your customers. A good design also makes your business look professional and conveys the feeling that the customer’s time is valuable enough to merit some effort being but into the means of advertisement.
