Blogging and Its Types
A blog is a type of website in which items are posted on a regular basis which is usually arranged in chronological order from the most recent post at the top of the page to the older posts towards the bottom. The term blog is actually a shortened form of weblog. Adding an article to an existing blog is referred to as ‘blogging’. Individual article on a blog is called ‘blog posts’ and the person who writes and posts these blog posts is referred to as a ‘blogger’.
Blogs are often written on a particular topic about which the bloggers might be interested. It can be anything from recipes to photography, books, adventure, fashion, beauty, lifestyle, or any of the blogger’s hobbies. It can be anything that a person can think of and might be interested in sharing his / her views on that topic with the people that share similar interests and views. This way people can learn, share ideas, make friends or even do business with people with similar interests.
A blog usually consists of text, hypertext, images, and links. There are several types of blogs. Let’s have a look at a few of them.
• Personal Blogs- Personal Blog is a diary or a commentary written and maintained by an individual. These generally attract very few readers. But now personal bloggers have grown to a large extent and their content is read by a large number of people. These personal bloggers have become famous, both in the virtual world as well as in the real world.
• Group Blogs or Collaborative Blogs- It is a type of blog where the posts are written, maintained, and published by more than one author. It is often set by already established bloggers who share the same view in order to reduce the pressure of maintaining a popular website and also to attract a larger number of readers.
• Corporate and Organizational blogs- These blogs are mostly private and are used for business, non-profit organizations or for government purposes. Blogs which can only be used internally by employees are called corporate blogs. These are generally used to communicate news about company policies or procedures. The company might also use publicly accessible blogs for marketing purposes.
Blogs these days are the easiest medium to express one’s views. If you are passionate about something and want to share your views with a larger audience, blogs are the perfect way to do so.
