Article Marketing – Two Tips For Success
If you only do one thing to market yourself and your websites, make sure it's to use the power of article marketing. I'm sure this will not be the first time you've heard this, but you may still be unaware as to how to go about it. These suggestions will help.
I decided to get into internet marketing after a serious illness – a heart attack. I determined that I could still carry on teaching, but that I probably would not be able to do it until retirement, which is still a long way off. I'd dabbled with internet marketing prior to this, but not in any great way. However, my ill health made me realize I had to find an alternative, and so the choice to take up internet marketing was an easy one.
Whatever I did, I did not do very well with – I made websites which looked good and people liked, but did not make any money. I moved from this thing to the next, and then onto another. Each time I changed tact to what I thought was going to be the next big thing, I found it was not, and I became more and more frustrated.
Then I was speaking to an old friend of mine, who taught English, and she reminded me that as a teacher, I had some very important skills – being able to write coherently, and being able to pass on information to others, in a way they could understand. Why was not I using those skills? She was right – I had both of these skills, and was virtuously ignoring them. So, I decided to start writing articles.
If you read the above, then you'll realize one aspect of writing successful articles – I told you a story which is true.
Article readers love reading stories which are true. People know when you're telling the truth and when you're telling lies. If you want to write an article about product X, then make sure you've bought the product X and can review it honestly. If you just tell your readers that product X is brilliant, and expect them to believe it, just because you say so, then be ready to sell very little. If product X does not stand up to the claims you've made, then not only will the customer ask for a refund, your credibility will suffer as well. The chances of you selling anything to that particular reader again will be remote.
My second tip is about the length of your articles.
EzineArticles is arguably the most successful article on the internet. They suggest that your article is between 250 and 1000 words. Now, this is not because they want to save space on their servers. It's because they know that if articles go beyond 1000 words, very few people will read them. Readers want information, and they want it fast.
I hope you've found these tips useful, and will encourage you to start your article marketing career. Perhaps you might find some of my other articles about article marketing useful.
