Are You a Smart Facebook Marketer Or Spammer?
Facebook, like other social media, is a great place to connect with friends, family, colleges and business partners. It is also a goldmine for internet marketers because of its viral nature. Doing it right will get you 10, 20 or even more leads per day for your business. However, if you are not careful, you will get your account suspended and blacklisted by Facebook.
So what is the correct way to do Facebook marketing? There is no right or wrong answer. The principle to keep in mind is do not do anything to others that you do not want others to do upon you. Things like posting advertisements on other people's walls for example. I hate it when people do that to me.
A few things you should do on Facebook are:
1. Create an interesting profile
People like interesting people. Therefore you have to make sure you have good pictures and good description on your profile.
2. Have a unique presence
If you are on Facebook to market yourself, you need to be unique. You have to look at things at a different angle and market yourself in a unique way. If you appear to be a "me-too" marketing coach, no one will be interested in listening to you.
3. Interact and make friends with people
People go to Facebook to make friends and socialise. We also know that people like to do business with people they know. Therefore you need to make friends and get to know other people first before pitching your businesses.
4. Be fun, sociable, interesting, encouraging and informative
There is nothing more I need to say here. You just have to imagine what type of person you like to hang out with.
There are a few big No's for Facebook marketing and these include:
1. Post advertisements on others' walls
If you do this, you will definitely lose a few friends. I make a point to remove people from my friends' list if I do not know them that well and they start posting their business opportunities links on my wall.
2. Write the same marketing messages in many groups
You are not going to annoy many people by doing this but you may get your account suspended. Any repetitive activities are viewed as spam by Facebook's autobot.
There are too many important marketing tips which are beyond the scope of this blog post. I suggest you study everything you can about Facebook marketing before starting your marketing.
