Affiliate Marketing – The Truth
Affiliate marketing is the easiest way to make money on the internet working only a few hours a week. This is complete and utter rubbish yet daily my email in-box is filled with such claims and promises of instant riches. For only $ 7 I am offered the "magic traffic generator" that will give me 20,000 visitors overnight or "A unique method of making $ 95,000 per annum with only a few clicks of the mouse". There are genuine people out there offering quality courses but they are in the minority the rest are rouges.
This quick fix definitely appeals to the lazy spots we all have to a greater or lesser degree coursing through our bodies but to any aspiring affiliate reading this I would suggest that the three most important attributes required to gain you success are Hard Work, more Hard Work , and a little bit more Hard Work. So you are new to internet marketing and help is essential but who do you trust-not the guy promising instant riches, it will not happen. But we are talking about the internet the largest reference source ever known it abounds with reliable quality content. For example if you are stuck with a problem, Wikipedia will provide a descriptive answer while YouTube will demonstrate how things are done there are many more helpful sites.
One important piece of advice before you begin set out a plan, however basic it will be your point of focus. Someone once wrote that a fool with a plan will do better than a normal person without one. It does not have to be in great detail but will include amongst other things the product, or products you wish to market, the method and how much you are prepared to spend. In choosing a product most informed writers suggest something about which you have a sound knowledge or a happy about which you are passionate. Thus if you or friends have been involved in dieting then you could promote dieting products and write articles and copy from a knowledgeable background. Similarly if you enjoy fishing, golf or other pastimes you could promote a range of associated products that you have used and know quite a bit about.
You have your plan, chosen your product and are all set to go. Whoa there let's do a little bit of research. Run a Google, or preferred engine, search for affiliate marketing forums, and forums related to your product and register with a few of them. Read relevant posts and start asking questions. Persevere and you will get valued feed back, it will not happen straight away because, despite the apparent rules of the forums, they are awash with scam merchants interested solely in promoting their products, and a few oddballs. However, you can develop a dialogue with people who were at one time in a similar position to yourself and are only too willing to help.
Initially, you will be faced with questions such as "Do I need an internet presence?" "Shall I set up web site or a blog?" "Should I subscribe to a course?" and many more and I shall deal with these in subsequent articles, meanwhile carry out your research, choose the product you wish to market and prepare yourself for some hard work. High work ethic = Reward.
