Affiliate Marketing – Leap Frog
Affiliates sometimes make the mistake of using the link that the merchant offers them. This allows the affiliate's customers to become the merchant's customers. The merchant that they are an affiliate for can leap frog over them and take their customer. How can this happen you ask. It is easy when the affiliate gives them the customer. As an affiliate you put time and money into getting a customer. By putting an affiliate link directly to your merchant's site you put yourself in the position of letting the merchant sell and send e-mails to your customers. Instead of sending your customers directly to the merchant, you should be sending them to your blog or site. Then taking their information so you can get backend sales. All it takes is an auto responder. and a blog or site. This means that you have their information and can advertise about other affiliate programs. If you get their e-mail address you can work directly with your new customers. This gives you a ready made customer base where you can promote your products.
If you want to sell an actual product, you can use a drop shipper. As with the merchants you are an affiliate for, a drop shipper can ad their label to the product you are selling. Here again you can be bypassed and your customers can be taken. This is why you need to investigate before using a drop shipper. A real drop shipper puts your label on the product you sell. This means when your customer wants to reorder your company label will be what they see. You get all the sales instead of the company you work with. Protect your investment in you customers.
Remember you need all the customers you can get, and can not afford to give any away. Be careful who you deal with, some will be honest and give you your share, but others will take what they can get.
