5 Powerful Tips To Setting Up A Successful Blog
When I look back on my days when I started blogging, I think to myself, boy if I knew then what I know now, I would have crushed it with blogging. Truth is, you live and you learn. My goal with this post is to give you 5 strong tips for starting your very own blog.
1. You Need A Good Name
Your blog has to have a good name. I do not suggest using your own name because no one knows you and no one will be searching for you like crazy. When your first starting out, you want to use keyword type domain names that will register good in Google. Example of this would be if your starting a blog on best dog food brands. If your name is Dan, I do do DansDogFoodReviews.com. That name is great for SEO and it gets your name out a bit.
2. Choosing Good Hosting
When picking a hosting company, do not just go for the cheapest price or by who has the best TV commercials. In my experience, the ones with all the flashy commercials have horrible service; whether it be customer service or tech service. Your going to need good hosting because if your hosting shuts down, then your site shuts down which means no money.
3. Choosing A Good Theme
This is very important and one insider tip is that when you find a theme that you like, stick to it. Whether you're doing a blog about photography, ski resorts, making money online or even dog food reviews, you need to have a theme that fits it and is visitor friendly. If you like that theme, use it for your next creation because if you make one successful blog, chances are, you're going to make another.
4. Focus on Content
Even til this day, I have a problem focusing on content and not making my page look all pretty and flashy. You could have the prettiest page on the net but if you do not have good content, no one is going to stay after they visit your site because simply put, they did not come to look at shiny plugins; they came to learn and you have to remember to give that to them.
5. Never Give Up
When you start, do not expect your blog to get thousands of people coming to it in the beginning. Not saying it can not happen; just do not expect it. You have to put in some SEO work to get your site ranked in Google and create as much content as possible. Google loves content and they reward you with ranking and visitors. The trick is to never give up.
Also, know your competition. Me; I'm in the blogging for money niche. As you can imagine, my competition is fierce but as I'm writing this, a top blogger stepped down from his rankings after many years. In my eyes that opens the doors up a bit, but I was intent on crushing it from the gate. If your in a market with not that much competition, then you can totally crush.
