Dan Kennedy Information Marketing Secret – Hang Out With Successful People

Davin Ogden believes in working with successful people. Networking is the key. "If you can really get to know some of these people their influence rubs off on you a lot."

As part of Dan Kennedy's Info Riches course, Rob Toth interviewed Davin to get his views on information marketing. Rob is collecting success tips from the top Information marketers in a series of interviews called "Future Of Information Marketing".

In 2006 Davin joined a mentorship program as his first introduction to information marketing. To his delight he became successful quickly, without going through the pain other beginners go through. He is thankful. Later on he joined another mentor and was successful with that program also.

You have to "solve problems for people", says Davin. The products you make have to be useful for people. Davin says "there are thousands of untapped niches." "You need to hone in and target the niches."

Once you have figured out what niche you want to work in, you need to start networking and doing joint ventures.

"Getting to know these successful people is not really tough", says Davin. "It's not as difficult as people think." One joint venture or one friend that you make could mean the difference between success and failure.

It may seem daunting but "a lot of these people are just as personal, they're just the same as anyone else and I know a lot of people getting started are really intimidated in trying to get close to some of these people but .. .you know there's a lot of really nice marketers out there that are willing to take you on and point you in the right direction and drive you a little bit further towards your goal. "

The problem is that "people just get their feet wet and they may be on the verge of cutting through and get some success for themselves." Then these people just wander off and start doing something else. Sometimes they give up altogether. A successful friend or jv partner would talk them out of it so they would end up being successful instead of ending up now, where they started from.

"It's really sad to see people doing that. That's what I see happening a lot" says Davin. "I do not think people give them enough of a chance sometimes and it is really tough to start because there's a lot to learn." It's all achievable if they would just start off in the right direction and keep going.

The Power of Planning

I am surprised how few sales professionals, independent consultants, and small business owners take the time to plan the strategy for their business. Most people spend more time writing out a grocery list or planning a vacation than they do planning the direction or exit of their business. Many will determine a vague or general idea of what they want to accomplish but very few actually identify the specific action steps that they will need to take in order to achieve their goals. I'm not suggesting you create a 25-30 page business plan like a good friend of mine writes every year, but I do recommend that you start outlining the goals you want to accomplish and how you plan to get there.

It is one thing to set a target for yourself, it is quite another to actually plan how you will achieve it. When I establish my annual goals (which get more challenging every year), I ask myself, "How will I accomplish these goals?" This forces me to plan the tactics, strategies, and actions I need to undertake in order to achieve my targets. For example, if your business relates primarily on referrals, identify what you can do to increase the number of referrals you receive.

In her book, Get Clients Now !, author CJ Hayden suggests using a monthly tracking sheet. This means setting specific monthly goals, planning what action you will take to generate new business, and tracking your progress. She suggests that you engage in a minimum of ten different marketing activities each week. This can include; Networking, prospecting, cold calling, sending mailers, speaking, etc. A speaker I know spends most of his Monday planning and strategizing his week, determining exactly what activities he will execute in the upcoming few days.

How should you plan your business? It all depends on what you want to accomplish and what is important to you. I know I could probably increase my revenue significantly in the next 12 months, but it would require spending less time with my family. Only you can determine what is important. And this will change depending on what stage of life you are in. What is important to you now may be completely insignificant six months from now. Here are five key areas to plan.

Revenue. If you are like most businesses, you probably have more than one product or service. Therefore, breaking down your sales into specific categories makes sense. This allows you to track your progress in each area and see where you can improve year over year. Plus, I can also determine the products or services I should stop selling because they do not generate very good sales.

Profit. Obviously, determining your gross sales is important. More importantly, though, is the amount of money you have left over at the end of the day. In other words, what profit are you going to generate? A professional speaker I know plans his business by deciding what profit he wants to earn by each year. He then creates his plan backwards to determine how he will achieve this. Remember, you can incredible sales but still go out of business.

Expenses. Controlling expenses is a critical aspect of running a profitable and successful business regardless of the size. All large organizations budget expenses but most independent business owners "wing it" and pay the bills as they come in. If you want to increase your revenues, you need to know how much it will cost you to generate your targeted sales. I remember talking to another trainer a few years ago who had learned this lesson. She began analyzing all of her expenses and found several areas she could trim. This freed up cash which she used to market her business. The result was more revenue with no additional out-of-pocket expense.

Vacation or Personal Time. How much free time do you want for yourself in the next year? I have learned that it is very easy to get sucked into the vortex of running a business and forget to take a vacation or personal time to recharge my batteries. Block those days in your calendar early in the year. This signifies a commitment and allows you to plan your business around these personal days. A friend of mine spends most of his summer scuba diving so he plans the rest of year accordingly. He works extremely hard but this frees up almost 3 months for him to partake in his favorite past-time.

Personal Development. I have found that the people who invest in themselves consistently outperform those who do not. Identify the skills that will help you become more successful. Determine what books, programs, courses, or people can help you learn these skills and take action.

Planning does take time. However, it is time well invested. Make the time in your hectic life to create a plan for next year's business. Review it regularly and make the necessary changes as you progress forward. You'll be glad you did.

Skin Cancer – Basal Cell Carcinoma (BCC)

In the United States, Basal Cell Carcinoma (BCC) accounts for 90 percent of all skin cancers in the southern states, and 47 percent in the northern states. Basal Cell Carcinoma is the most common form of skin cancer in Australia and New Zealand, representing 70-80% of diagnosed skin cancers. Occurrence of Basal Cell Carcinoma mainly occurs on the head and neck. It occurs less often in Asians and rarely among darker skinned races. As with all skin cancers the risk is considered to be related to sun exposure. The positive about Basal Cell Carcinoma is that it is slow-growing and rarely metastasizes throughout the body. However, it is locally destructive and can invade neighboring bone and nerve tissue.

Description – BCC is a malignant epithelial cell tumor that begins as a papule (a small, circumscribed, solid elevation of the skin) and enlarges peripherally, developing into a crater that erodes, crusts and bleeds. BCC originates in the basal layer of the epidermis, the lowest layer of skin.

Signs and Symptoms of Basal Cell Carcinoma – There are five typical characteristics of basal cell carcinoma that are quite different from each other. Two or more features are frequently present in one tumor. BCC sometimes resembles non-cancerous skin conditions such as psoriasis or eczema and requires diagnosis by a trained person. The five warning signs of basal cell carcinoma are:

  1. An open sore that bleeds, oozes or crusts, and remains open for three or more weeks. A persistent, non-healing sore is a very common early manifestation.
  2. A reddish patch or an irritated area, frequently occurring on the chest, shoulders, arms or legs. Sometimes the patch crusts. It may also itch or hurt. At other times, it persists with no noticeable discomfort.
  3. A smooth growth with an elevated, rolled border and an indentation in the centre. As the growth slowly enlarges, tiny blood vessels may develop on the surface (telangiectases).
  4. A shiny bump (nodule) that is pearly or translucent and is often pink, red or white. The nodule can also be tan, black or brown, especially in dark-haired people, and can be confused with a mole or melanoma.
  5. A scar-like area (white, yellow, or waxy in appearance) which often has poorly defined borders. The skin itself appears shiny or taut. Although a less frequent sign, it can indicate the presence of a more aggressive tumor.

Diagnosis of Basal Cell Carcinoma – Diagnosis is almost always by biopsy. Tissue is cut away from the site and examined under a microscope.

Medical Treatment of Basal Cell Carcinoma – Allopathic treatment depends on the size and type of tumor. There are various types of surgery or non-surgical treatments chosen from.

Non-surgical treatment of BCC – Allopathic non-surgical treatments have low success rates.

  • Topical application of 5-fluorouracil for 2 to 12 weeks is only beneficial for superficial BCC. Fluorouracil is used to prevent excess cell proliferation as found in skin cancer and psoriasis. It prevents the formation of RNA which in turn prevents the formation of DNA.
  • Imiquinoid cream -currently the use of Imiquinoid cream is considered experimental. It is an immune response modifier that stimulates the immune system to release cytokines that destroy cancer cells. Treatment causes significant skin irritation. Not all types of BCC are affected.
  • Ionizing radiation: Superficial x-ray. It results in radiation damage, therefore it is used more with older patients. Impaired immune function and general malaise also usually results. Used for facial BCC and appears less effective for BCC occurring elsewhere.

Surgical Removal of BCC – Surgery is the most studied, and most used treatment for removal of a BCC in allopathic medicine. The effectiveness of surgery depends very much on the skill of the surgeon. Various surgical methods:

  • Electrodessication and Curettage – the BCC is burned and removed with a scalpel. The main disadvantage of this method is that the tumor often tracks down hair follicles. (9)
  • Cryosurgery – liquid nitrogen to freeze burn the BCC.
  • Excision surgery- the BCC is cut from the skin with a scalpel. To increase the likelihood of complete removal of the tumor, a portion of normal-appearing skin surrounding the BCC is removed.
  • Microscopic or MOHS surgery – the BCC is cut from the skin, along with some of the healthy surrounding tissue. This is examined under a microscope to check for any remaining cancer cells. Tissue is then taken in increments of thin layers of skin, until no more cancer cells are detected. Mohs is the most effective allopathic medical treatment (99% cure rate for primary BCC, 90-95% for recurrent BCC).
  • Laser surgery. Lasers are also used as a secondary therapy when topical medications or other techniques are unsuccessful.

Recurrence of BCC – Once a basal cell carcinoma has been removed, another growth can develop in the same place or nearby area. It has been found that 36% of people who develop a basal cell carcinoma will develop a secondary primary BCC within the next 5 years. Radiotherapy can result in more aggressive and invasive cells in a recurrent BCC.

Effective Alternative Treatments – Allopathic medicine is often successful in completely removing BCC’s but obviously also often fails, given the high number of recurrences suffered by many people with repeat visits to the doctor and then specialist. These treatments don’t always work as well as expected or hoped.

But there are natural treatments that are worth trying and have proven to be safe and effective. You can read the full text of this article in the e-book entitled “How to Treat Skin Cancer Naturally”. The book includes descriptions of different types of Basal Cell Carcinoma as well as images and additional text. It covers other types of skin cancer (basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and melanoma) with helpful information on various methods and herbs such as bloodroot applications. Real cases of people who have successfully used these methods are included.

Volleyball Rules: Player Behavior

As a volleyball instructor, you need to display control by supplying your players a set of rules and requirements which they have to know and comply with. Setting down the law during the initial week will be crucial if you want to run a well-oiled machine. I have produced a summary of some tips i believe would be the essentials.

UNACCEPTABLE Behavior

1. Engaging in anything other than watching and cheering when players are on the bench. The players should not be chatting about Jersey Shore or their boyfriends. They need to be paying attention to the game.

2. Distracting a player that is attempting to play a ball. This is along the line of good sportsmanship. Do not let your players fall into this as you really do not want to unliked by other teams. You will quickly make a name for yourself.

3. Yelling or swearing in anger. Once again, sportsmanship. I had a player yell the “F” word during a tight match with lots of people watching. The most unfortunate aspect was it was so quiet because it was such an exciting play. An extremely uncomfortable instant no doubt.

4. Questioning or criticizing an official’s call. Almost nothing bugs me more than watching players ask for a call after every play. Do not allow your players to do that. Let them understand that that is your job.

5. Hurling or kicking the ball in anger. If you have ever coached boys, you realize what I am talking about. They really like to kick the ball as far as they can. Plus, isn’t this like the very first rule of volleyball you ever learned? That and rolling the ball under the net (I really like throwing it over to the person serving).

6. Talking to the officials. You definitely need to make certain everyone knows only the captain can talk to the officials. It really is not entertaining to receive a yellow card at a critical part of a match.

7. Negative cheers. Recall this one?: We want a pitcher not a belly itcher. None of that please.

8. Blaming teammates. Another thing I feel that I observe way too much. Every team has that one player that loves to look at the person who screwed up and say some thing. That is the coach’s job. Do not allow that to get beyond control.

9. Pouting following a bad play. In the event that this happens, just take the player out. This is not really going to benefit the team.

Here is a list of points to encourage:

1. Help teammates off the floor

2. Compliment teammates and opponents on great plays

3. Roll the ball under the net

4. Run to get an errant ball and bring back to the server or referee

5. Cheering at the conclusion of each point (win or lose the point)

6. Cheering from the sidelines (“Jenny’s on fire, Ooh, Ah”, “Keep it up Sara, keep it up”, “Here we go Red, here we go”)

7. Motivating player which makes an error (“Don’t worry, you’ll get it next time”)

Micro Reality Racing: What Is All the Excitement About Micro Reality Stock Car Racing?

Have you ever been at a fair, festival, company picnic, or other indoor or outdoor gathering of people and seen a huge racetrack that is about the size of a two car garage? Did this racetrack have a huge crowd of people around it screaming their lungs out with excitement? Perhaps this racetrack was under the canopy of a huge inflatable tent with a checkered flag design on top? When you moved in closer to see what the excitement was all about, did you find four to six 1/10th scale Sprint Cup Replica NASCAR cars being driven by remote control from full-sized steering wheels? If so, then what you have witnessed is Micro Reality Racing action. Micro Reality Stock Car Racing is an attraction that has been around for about 15 years and it has quickly swept the nation as one of the most addictive amusements for kids ages 3 to 83. It was invented in Atlantic, Iowa, by three brothers known as the Namanny Brothers. They took a great money-making idea that they invented and decided to mass produce it so that other entrepreneurs could have the opportunity to create a great part-time or full-time income providing racing excitement to patrons at public and private gatherings of lots of people.

There are different formats that a Micro Reality event may have. The three main options are pay-per-play, private event rental, and fundraiser. A pay-per-play event is one where the Micro Reality Racing business operates as a vendor, sets up the track in a public place, and charges each individual racer to pick a car and race for either a set amount of time or a set amount of laps. A typical race would be between 2 and 3 minutes or 12 to 15 laps. A typical charge to race would be between 3 dollars and 5 dollars, depending on the type of event, the region, and the demographics of the crowd. Sometimes vendors will offer multi-race discounts, such as two races for 5 dollars. Typical venues for pay-per-play events are fairs, festivals, shopping malls, car shows and carnivals. The main drawback to this type of event is that the racing revenue is dependent on several factors, such as weather, location, and crowd turnout. Although the potential is there to make a significant amount of income from events lasting anywhere from 2 to 14 days, there is also the possibility of losing money, in the event that the revenue does not exceed the space rental, fuel, lodging, insurance, payments to helpers, food, and other expenses the business will encounter.

A private rental is when the Micro Reality Stock Car Racing track is hired out by a party planner or event coordinator to appear at a specific time and place to offer the patrons of the event unlimited racing for the duration of the event. Instead of being paid per race by the event patrons, the Micro Reality business is paid by the organizers of the event or by the event coordinator to provide unlimited racing for an agreed upon number of hours. This type of arrangement is better for the Micro Reality Racing business owner, as the money is guaranteed and he is usually paid an up-front deposit of 50%, with the balance being paid at the conclusion of the event. With a satisfied event coordinator, the Micro Reality track is guaranteed repeat business for years, if the event is annual. The event planner will also schedule a well-run operation for other functions they have planned throughout the year. There is also a good potential for referrals to other event coordinators. The types of events that private rentals are used for are birthday parties, corporate hospitality events, company picnics, team building retreats and church outings.

A fund-raiser is similar to a pay-per-play event, but there is usually a revenue share between the Micro Reality Stock Car Racing business and the event coordinators. The revenue share will be anywhere from a 90/10 split up to a 50/50 split. At this type of event, sometimes the track owner and event coordinators will agree to use a ticket system so the revenue can be tracked.

A Micro Reality Racing System consists of 18 modular track sections that are similar to folding tables with only two legs. There are twelve 15 degree Curved sections and six straight sections. The track can be configured up to 9 different layouts, anything from a small 10′ x 10′ circle all the way up to a 25′ by 30′ Indianapolis Brickyard layout. There are also various oval, superspeedway oval, and asymmetric layouts that can be set up. The cars are adorned with replica NASCAR paint schemes, and usually between four and six cars are raced at one time. The drivers operate the vehicles from behind full-sized steering consoles that are wired with radio controls on the inside. Most successful track owners also track laps with a digital lap counter. Some vendors use a computer and lap counting software which displays race statistics on an LCD monitor.

There are many different ways that a Micro Reality Stock Car Racing system can entertain the crowd at your next event. Although there are many variations in events and venues, the one thing that will be consistent among them all, is the high-level excitement in the crowd and the Micro Reality Racing participants.

If you have to file for bankruptcy, you would need the debtor education and bankruptcy courses. These high-energy and motivating courses are not only fun, but also they meet all court requirements for pre-discharge debtor education in all states and territories. The latter course teaches you about the types of bankruptcy that can be filed.

A few years ago, a step was added to the bankruptcy filing process. Individuals filing for bankruptcy must take part in an approved credit counseling course before filing for bankruptcy. Also, before you get a discharge at the end of your case, another class on personal financial management must be taken. There are very limited exceptions for both requirements, however very few folks will qualify for them.

Once you have filed for bankruptcy, you are required to complete a debtor education course before you can get your discharge. In addition to the credit counseling need in bankruptcy, debtor education is required. In a nutshell, before you can file for your insolvency, you are required to complete a credit counseling course and before you can receive a discharge, you need to complete a debtor education course.

After your case is filed, you must complete the debtor education course. If you filed for straight bankruptcy, you have to finish it within 60 days of the date assigned for your meeting of creditors. In corporate bankruptcy, it must be completed before you make your last plan payment.

Similar to credit counseling, an approved agency must be used to file your certificate of completion with the court (the course can be completed in person, online or over the phone). If you fail to complete the requirement of debtor education course, the court can close your case without a release and additional fees will have to be paid in order to reopen your case to file your certificate.

The focus of debtor education course is on life post bankruptcy. It educates you on how to manage your money, use credit judiciously, and make the most of your bankruptcy discharge. The primary purpose of debtor education is to educate you on how to make sound and robust financial decisions to prevent bankruptcy in the future.

Since the debtor education course will cover money management techniques, you will still have to create a budget using your income and expenses after bankruptcy. But in contrast to credit counseling (which tries to figure out whether you need to file for bankruptcy), the focus of this course will be primarily in educating you about how to manage your money, budget and use credit wisely after a discharge in bankruptcy is received.

Five Commandments for Online Reputation Management

In the digital era, reputation management has gained an extra perspective. You have to be careful about online reputation as the detractors and the disgruntled find it easier to troll you on the Internet. It is no doubt easier for them, compared to the heydays of electronic and print media.

Here are five commandments that will help you manage your reputation online. These well-chosen, evergreen tips will come in handy even after a decade or more:

Earn Trust

Trust is something you have to gain with hard work done strategically. And then, you have to keep working on it. Trust, as many business experts say, is a perishable asset and you have to keep making efforts to sustain it. When people trust you, they would believe in what you say and your detractors would find it harder to harm you.

Transparency is the key to gaining trust. When you are continually transparent in whatever you do, you are sure to earn their trust, which does help in the long run.

Monitor and Engage Your Audiences

Social media monitoring helps you to keep tabs on how others view your company. Moreover, you are able to gauge certain trends and take appropriate steps to benefit from them. Find what platforms your audiences are present on and engage with them actively.

Twitter, for instance, can be an excellent medium for replying to the queries of your audiences. If a customer uses the platform for complaining about something, you can promptly convey to them that your team is working on the issue and trying to resolve it at the earliest. A short, prompt reply is better than a belated one with more information. Gaining insights into their mindset will help you frame the right strategy for winning them over.

Address Criticism Positively

A blunt reply to every criticism will only make things worse. You have to be diplomatic on social media and in how you react to various situations.

The way Whole Foods CEO John Mackey handled the controversy on the company’s WSJ op-ed on Obama healthcare reform in 2009 can teach one a thing or two regarding reputation management. Two days after the controversy arose, the company issued a response stating that opinions on the issue were many, including inside their own organization. They invited people to share their opinion on the matter. Their cordial approach helped in diffusing the controversy.

Take Your Google Appearance Seriously

Expect a good chunk of your audiences to reach you through Google. Do a check on what appears when somebody does a search with your name on Google. The negative reviews people may have posted about you on various review sites or blogs are also likely to appear in search rankings along with your website. If the negative reviews are just too many, you have to find ways of dealing with them, or else they would harm your online reputation.

Address Illegitimate Criticism Negatively

If someone is out to present you in negative light without a legitimate reason, you have to take remedial action. Discuss with your legal team if there is enough ground to sue them. A lenient approach towards them may encourage them to repeat their wrongful action.

Having a pre-determined policy about online reputation management will help you deal with such problems effectively. If your efforts fail to yield the desired results, the choice of seeking professional help is always there.

Promote yourself on radio for free

Unless you have become extremely popular in your personal or business name, you likely need all of the marketing and promotion you can get. Now, you may say, of course, I'm aware of this, but who has the money? This is a good and fair question. It may surprise you, though, when I say, you do not need money for some of the most valuable marketing available – radio advertising.

If you are not the kind of person who listen to talk radio, the next time you're taking a drive, tune in to one of your local talk shows and listen for awhile. Try to find something that is not a sports talk show, although they also offer the type of free advertising I want to explain. What you'll ever hear is an interview. A talk show host will have a guest, who is an expert at something. Perhaps it's a health show, and the subject is weight loss and the guest is talking about some new diet.

Now, listen carefully, because you will not hear the guest babbling about his book, web site, or going on and on about his great product that is going to melt the pounds off of every fat person in America. What you will hear, in most cases, is someone who is explaining a method for weight loss that is a new approach. Now, at times throughout the show, this expert will certainly mention his product, and the host will ask the expert to tell the audience how to order it.

Even if you are an avid listener to these types of shows, and you've heard hundreds of guest experts, what you may not know is that in 99 percent of these cases, this is not paid advertising.

You see, there are thousands of talk show stations in America, and the ones that program only talk shows probably have five to 10 different shows per day. Some quick math will tell you that tens of thousands of talk shows nationwide need things to talk about and guests to keep listeners tuned in. This is where the magic comes in for you. As a new author, salesman or business owner – talk shows need you.

Best of all, virtually anyone can get on a talk show. When I published my first book, Winning the Mortgage Game, I had very little idea how to market it, but I did know I was on a very small budget. I put up a web site, started an ezine, and it was an extremely slow beginning. That is, until I learned about being on radio talk shows. I read a very well-written how-to book by a man namedJoe Sabah about approaching radio producers and getting them to invite me to be a guest on their shows.

The second show I ever did was an hour-lomg interview on a station hundreds of miles away from my home. The producer called me at my house minutes before I was on, and the host began asking me questions about real estate finance. At various points throughout the show, he said Mark, tell listeners how to get your book, and I simply said go to http://www.winningthemortgagegame.com , and use the credit card of your choice. Believe me, people are much more apt to go to your web site, when they've heard you talk about your subject.

Now there are a few keys to getting on the radio and to making your appearances turn into sales of your product. First, you need the names and numbers of the stations and the producers of the shows. Remember, producers book the guests, so they are who you want to talk to. When you get them on the phone, which is not easy, be sure you are prepared. Do not just say you want to come on and talk about your new book or product. Start by telling them you are an expert in whatever the relevant field is and that you have a new system you want to share with their listeners.

Remember, this is going to be a lot like sales. You need to talk to a lot of producers to get a few bookings. Not everyone is going to jump at what you are offering. Make sure you speak in a good voice, so the producers think you'll sound good on the show.

When you do get booked, be sure you have several key points that listeners will remember, and make sure they know exactly how to get your product. Incidentally, if you want to get a great list of radio stations and their contact information, look for Joe Sabah's book. Radio talk shows are one of the best free ways to advertise you'll ever get. Take advantage.
